I am fascinated by the basic questions of “Who are we?”  “Where do we come from?” and “Where are we supposed to go?”.  I look to my faith to give me answers to these questions.  It is through visualizing what these answers are to me, and interpreting them on artistic media, that I can be inspired to create another unique art every time without repetition.

Before I make a painting, or even start working on the canvas, I detail the entire painting in my imagination.  Looking through stones, shells, wood, flowers, leaves and the intertwine colors of nature; provide me with an abundance of details to express myself.  I mostly use close up view, some, from an unusual angle, or even use super enlarged image of the subject matter.  Through the tactile sensations, smells, and sounds of my subject, coupled with personal experiences, and emotions, I create a piece that is unique to me in every dimension.

My oil paintings generally represent the transition from darkness to light. Life has periods of darkness, represented by dark colors and some rough textures, then through the healing process can be transformed into the light.  The present can be exciting, moving, happening and is represented by the bright colors and the lines.  Hope for the future is captured in the unexpected, breathtaking, bright colors.  The smooth transitions from deep contrasting colors into light and bright colors are a reflection of how gradually and firmly life heals itself.  Layers upon layers of colors represent stages of life and how patience can help heal roughness of life and are meant to guide the viewer to see the brighter side of the future ahead.
